To all with the “loading map..” problem

I got some comments and “bug-reports” in the last days. I will give you the solution:

To have a ditu-map on your website you have to add the line ditu_map() (as you can read in the readme.txt or here) into a template file; for example you create a new page template for a ditu-map.

Dont try to add the ditu_map() command into a post or page via the wp-admin interface, because then you save the code into your database and it will get “transformed” in the end into some mixture of code, and UTF-8 encoded stuff…

Thank you all for the cooperation and bug-tracking, I wouldnt have thought about such things without you.

Geotagging with Flickr

Finally also Flickr integrated Geotagging features into their application. The post at the FlickrBlog tells us more about the features. Have a go and see what Yahoo can do. If you want a demonstration of it - here is a screencast.

bugfix - API Key Problem solved

People found a quite heavy bug in the 0052 release - the API key wasnt saved. Now, I found the time to take care about it and finally I found it. The main reason for the bug was a wrong function call, version 0052 was built up in a total different way then the versions before. So I hope it works now and it would be great if you guys could give me feedback. The plugin lives only through teh feedback. Thanks to Luki and Jeremy. Here is version 0053.

Now, it is done.. a new version is ready to use. No changes on the output level only changes in handling and an option menu to make some settings.
If you want to tag your location based posts then download the Ultimate Tag Warrior in the future we will provide some functions which combines ditu with UTW.

I found some time to get one thing sorted - ditu will work together with the Ultimate Tag Warrior.

So if you want to use UTW with ditu get the latest version and start to tag your geo-posts. I will try to find more time in the next days to get some handling things sorted and to find a way to interface UTW.

Thanks to Ole (http://www.frisbeeblog.de) we could track some realy stupid bug down. The file which parses the xml file to Google Maps. So download the new version here.

So we came across a bug in the ditu_rss.php that caused that the added entries were not shown on the map. It is always funny - developing on a known environment let you develop in a save environment or? So we hope that it works well now if not could you please leave a comment.

Google Maps Plugin - Instructions

After some comments asking for some help or better a how-to I will write it down for you and for the future. It is quite simple:

1. you download the Plugin here

2. you put the files into your Wordpress Plugin folder and you copy the ditu_rss.php into the top-level (into your Wordpress folder).

3. you open the admin panel “Plugins” and activate ditu.

4. you add the command where ever you want to see the ditu map (Google Maps) on your website and thats it. You can start blogging.

Hope this short introduction will help you and I always would like to get some feedback so I can improve and develop the next version into your direction.

BETA RELEASE : ditu - the Google Maps Wordpress Plugin

Today we release the first beta of ditu - the Google Maps Wordpress Plugin. It is a simple version of the one we aim to build but an early release can help us to find bugs and other silly things. ditu - the wordpress plugin enables you to locate your posts with google maps. Once activated it will show you in the write form of Wordpress Google Maps where you can add a location to the post and a textfield for tags. Yes also tags. The tagging system isnt ready but we already implemeted it - for fun. In future releases we want to interate the known tag functions like clouds and related entries and so on, but for the beta release it is fair enough to locate posts. Good here is the link to ditu - the Google Maps Wordpress Pluging. You can find a simple how-to in the zip which will help you to install it, it i smade for Worpress 2.0 and yes make a backup of your Worpress installation before you install it. Have fun using it and we are really keen on comments, suggestions, and other things. Hope you like it.
